Twin Cities Running Groups

I am looking for some running groups in the Twin Cities (St. Paul or Minneapolis would be best).  I did my first triathlon a few weeks ago and am in training for a longer one in August and it seems that I am battling what I struggled with the most when I ran back in high school, the mental monster.  I think if I could run regularly with other people of a similar ability I would have a much easier time - particularly when it comes to pushing myself.

If it makes any difference, my race had a 5k run, and my August tri has a 10k run (which I would like to be able to run in around 40 minutes).  I am also considering running a few other 5/10k and or 10-mile running races.

I run with the Twin Cities Running Club. We do two group runs a week, Tuesday evening and alternating Sat/Sun mornings. The group does seem to be more 1/2 and full marathon folks, but some of the people do run shorter distances too.
There's a very wide range of running paces -- we have some really fast people (Boston marathoners), but many of us are far slower and more casual. The main common factor is that everyone is just really laid-back and casual. We don't do any real formal training, we just get together and run, with each person following their own training program, but then we're often training for different races too. There are some really experienced folks who provide lots of training advice if you ask for it, though.

If you want to run with the group, you can show up at one of the Tuesday evening runs, which start from the parking lot across Mississippi River Blvd from St Thomas, (at the corner of MRB and Summit) at 6:30. (I won't be there for the next few weeks due to various travels.) Or, if you ask, I can forward you one of Dave's weekly e-mails, which also has the weekend run schedule & locations for the next two months or so (weekend runs move around the cities; Tuesday runs always start at the parking lot above.)

Hi! I used to run regularly with Minnesota RED (Run, Eat, Drink.) I still meet them for the occasional run. They are a fun group and they run at least one race nearly every weekend, so there's plenty of cameraderie at every race and finish line.

I run with the Calhoun Beach Running Club. They are primarily a marathon-training group, with the main focus being Grandma's (we just had our last track speedwork workout last night) and Twin Cities. Organized runs Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Saturday AM long runs. Other distances will be welcomed too--I'm on the fence about a fall marathon myself, but will likely stick with the group even if I'm just training for half's or 10Ks.
